RATO BANGALA SCHOOL AND FOUNDATION

Since 1991, Beth Norford of EAW has been involved with the Rato Bangala School in Kathmandu. Founded to address an urgent need for new thought and practice in Nepali education, the school began by serving a handful of elementary students and has grown to include grades 1-12.

The Rato Bangala Foundation was created as a platform for broad-based educational reform in Nepal and, using the Kathmandu campus as a laboratory, is working with hundreds of government schools throughout the country.  Through teacher education and long-term engagement with officials at the district level, the Foundation is breaking new ground for Nepal's schools.
